Though Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit has said many times that their government would do anything to protect Delhi women but even the people in her convoy are teasing women.
A driver attached to the Delhi chief minister’s convoy and his associate have been arrested on charges of eveteasing. They had allegedly made obscene gestures and tried to molest an NGO worker near the Pragati Maidan metro station on Wednesday night.
The incident was reported outside Hanuman Mandir around 10pm. The case has been registered at Tilak Marg police station in New Delhi district and the driver, who drives in the CM’s convoy, has been arrested. The victim is a student of music and is working as a manager with an event management company.
“The accused have been identified as Rajesh, who was driving the pilot car at the time of the incident, and Jagdish Kumar Vashista. An FIR under section 509 (outraging the modesty of a woman) was registered against them. They were arrested and released on bail,” said a senior police officer.
She is the daughter of a priest and lives inside a temple at Tilak Marg along with her two brothers and parents. On Wednesday a friend of the victim had come to meet her at her house. The victim had stepped out of the house to see her off when the two men allegedly made obscene gestures.
“I slapped him hard on his cheeks while raising an alarm. A struggle ensued but I did not let him go. A police van reached the spot by then. I noted down the pilot car number (DL13C0023).”
“I was standing outside my house to hire an autorickshaw for my friend when a Gypsy arrived there. Two persons were travelling in the government Gypsy belonging to the Delhi CM’s convoy. They abused me and made some obscene gestures. When I objected, they got off the car and threatened me. One of them who was wearing a grey colour Safari suit said that he is part of the security of the Delhi CM and tried to molest me,” claimed the victim.
