On Thursday, DPCC President JP Aggarwal invited AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi to the DPCC headquarters at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg. It was a show of strength ahead of the 2012 municipal elections. Rahul was hailed as a “morale booster” for the party workers.
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit was also present on the occasion along with AICC general secretary in-charge of Delhi, Chaudhury Birender Singh, Union women and child development minister Krishna Tirath and Union sports minister Ajay Maken.
“I had invited him to visit our headquarters and meet the party workers, MLAs and councillors. He went around meeting everyone. It was a big morale booster for all of us,” said Aggarwal.
Sheila and Aggarwal, who have crossed swords on most issues in the past, were happily united in hosting Rahul. But there were no speeches or politically loaded statements. The CM labelled Rahul’s visit as an informal meeting with MLAs, corporators and members of the Pradesh Committee. Aggarwal, on the other hand, said Rahul did not discuss anything political.
