Show Me Your PC and I’ll tell you what kind of Guy you are. It constitutes Horse sense to automate basic Maintenance Tasks to keep your PC functioning at Top Notch by having it eliminate the temporary Files and cookies that get placed on the system by Rogue programs on the Internet. You might want to prevent any Lag Time from eating into your spare time. Jokes apart, let’s get down to business

1)     Automate Tasks thru the Task Scheduler

Type taskschd.msc in the Run Tab. Alternatively you could choose Task scheduler from the list under Administrative Tools.

Choose Create basic Task from under Action in  list of the tabs at the top. Give the task any Name that will let you identify the task  and an optional description that will let you know you did not create it in a state of frenzy .Select a Time at which you are guaranteed to be active since Disk Cleanup requires user input .

That you need to click Next goes untold. Select a schedule based on the frequency that you want the Baby to run .ie Daily/Monthly/Weekly

When You reach the stage where You need to insert the name of the program. Open the Browse window and write

·         cleanmgr.exe  ( Disk Clean Up for Temporary Files )

·         chkdisk.exe (Check Disk for errors)

·         ccleaner.exe (Run PiriForm CCleaner )

And click Next

Check for Task Properties before You click Finish

Click Finish

The Task Properties allow you to ensure that the task gets invoked in case the task doesn’t get completed or if the computer is on sleep

2) Schedule Disk Defragmenter

When Files are too large to fit in 1 space, the Files are split into fragments and stored on the Disk. When the Files are deleted , the free space left behind is too scattered and this leads to lag time when you later wish to fetch the Files for Use since the Disk now has to get Hold of all the files and Integrate them together .

  • Schedule Disk Defragmenter (Type dfrgui.exe in the Run Tab or select Disk Defragmenter from the list of programs ) to Run at a Frequency convenient for You
  • Click Modify Schedule and select as Suitable
  • Install PiriForm Ccleaner from http://www.piriform.com/ and schedule it as above
  • Use the PiriForm Ccleaner to clean the temporary files , cookies etc as well as Check erroneous Registry settings .

  • Install procxp http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653 .Procxp shows you information about which handles and DLLs processes have opened or loaded.

3)PiriForm Ccleaner
