The angry farmers of Gorakhpur village , who have been holding dharna here against the land acquisition for the proposed nuclear power plant near their village, burnt the effigy of the Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi since he assured to take proper action soon.  The Rahul Gandhi assured us for the proper step to be taken soon, but nobody came to us till now.

“We have met the Congress general secretary and Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda with our plea last year.  Now, we will launch a stir against the government if, they do not accept our demands. The government has already imposed Section-4 of the Land Acquisition Act,” Hans Raj Siwach added. The farmers are opposing nuclear power plant, which is to be set up near the Gorakhpur village.

The president of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, Hans Raj Siiwach said, “The Hooda government is behind our fertile land. We are sitting on dharna from past 328 days against the nuclear power plant, but still the government did not discuss the problems with us.”
The former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala has already announced that, if their party Indian National Lok Dal comes to power, the project would be closed. According to Chautala, he personally visited the Gorakhpur village and took details about the fertile land, which is to be acquired for the nuclear power plant.
