Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi started his 5-day Jan Sampark Abhiyan programme in Uttar Pradesh with accusing the Mayawati government of misusing state funds. “We send money from Delhi but it doesn’t reach people in Uttar Pradesh,” Rahul said addressing a rally at Barabanki.
As the state gears up for elections next year, Rahul also said that Congress aims at bringing the ‘aam aadmi’ government in Uttar Pradesh.
Rahul also alleged that the money for the ‘Janani Suraksha scheme’ for women also reached the wrong hands.
Earlier on Tuesday, beginning of Rahul’s rally was marred by clashes between two groups within the Congress. A clash took place between Beni Prasad and PL Punia supporters over ticket distribution.
His 5-day tour would culminate into a public rally in Kushinagar on the November 26. After launching a no-holds barred attack on Mayawati and Samajwadi Party in Phulpur, Rahul will be making another attempt to reach out to the people of UP, the state that’s gearing up for polls early next year.
Rahul will be addressing district level public meetings in the 6 districts.
