Mary Kom and Milkha Singh will soon have company. Cricket’s original controversial king Mohammad Azharuddin will return on the big screen, if Ekta Kapoor has her way. We have learnt that the producer and her team signed a contract with Azharuddin for rights to a biopic on the cricketer’s life, and the cricketer, who lost his career to match fixing, has given his consent to go ahead with the project. While it will be interesting to see a movie on Azharuddin, List of 5 cricketers who should have biopics.

1. Sourav Ganguly:

If there is a cricketer who is passionate about his game it is Sourav Ganguly. Also called the ‘Royal Bengal Tiger of Indian Cricket’, Ganguly’s career is no less than a filmi story with its shares of ups and downs, friendship, betrayals and controversies. Considered as one of the most successful cricket captains of India, ‘Dada’ has been in the news for his dare devilry and his affairs. And the ugly spat between him and coach Greg Chappell will provide all the masala needed for a Bollywood flick.

2. Sachin Tendulkar:

When Sachin announced his retirement, there was not even a single Indian who did not have tears in his eyes. The ‘God of Cricket’ is the greatest cricketer we have and will ever have. Be it his perfection, triumphs, humility and his dedication, there is no one as motivating as Sachin. The movie could trace his journey, his magnificent career and his bond with his teammates. Though his career is clean and devoid of any controversy, his name will be enough to make this movie a blockbuster, 100-crore club material.

3. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi:

Tiger Pataudi was one of the most dashing cricketers of the Indian team with an unmatched style and persona. Husband of Bollywood beauty Sharmila Tagore and father of actors Saif and Soha Ali Khan, he was the captain of the cricket team and took the team to new glories. The Nawab of Pataudi, he faced great difficulties in his early career and faced a setback when he lost his right eye in an accident. He, however, overcame his handicap to become one of the most successful cricketers of our country.

4. Virat Kohli:

Love him or hate him but you cannot ignore him. Be it his stunning looks, recklessness or I-care-a-damn-attitude, Virat has it all. Like most youngsters, he has a reckless side that lands him in trouble. Be it his altercation on field or gesturing the crowd with his middle finger, Virat is media’s favourite controversy child. Though he plays with utmost perfection, his constant use of swear words and wild celebrations on the field earned him a reputation as the bad boy of Indian Cricket. Currently he is in the news for dating Bollywood beauty Anushka Sharma.

5. Yuvraj Singh:

Be it on the field or off-field, Yuvraj Singh is a hero in the true sense. The ace left-handed batsman is known to have a never-say-die attitude and has proved that there is nothing that he cannot defeat. After fighting cancer and regaining his health, the stylish cricketer is back in action. Known for his audaciousness, flirting nature and temper, this handsome cricketer has been linked with a bevy of Bollywood beauties like Preity Zinta, Deepika Padukone and Kim Sharma. He also has a history of recklessness, especially the infamous episode of 2008, when his temper landed him in trouble with Union Minister Dilip Ray’s son- Sandeep Ray. It will indeed be interesting to see a movie on Yuvraj’s life.
